As 2011 is quickly drawing to a close, and we’re already looking ahead to next year, we’ve now finished compiling next year’s new Farm Calendar for 2012!
Each year we pull together some of our favorite photographs from around the farm, and put together a calendar for our own use throughout the year, but also make it available through a print-on-demand publisher for anyone else that may wish to have a copy of their own.
It’s a fun way to review the highlights from the previous season, and here at least, it’s an absolute necessity for keeping us organized and on track!
PDA’s, computers, and smart-phones are fine, but I still prefer the conventional pencil-and-paper monthly wall calendar for keeping our upcoming schedule visible at a glance.
We’ve selected a similar layout this year to the 2011 calendar we offered last year.
This is a large-format, twelve month calendar, printed on gloss-white paper, and spiral bound above the beautifully reproduced photographs. Each month is a full page measuring 13.5 x 19 inches tall. We had lots of positive feedback on the multi-image format last year, so again for 2012 there are three of our favorite photographs to highlight each month.
There’s plenty of room to write important upcoming dates, and events, without our busy days becoming too crowded and illegible. Key holidays (US) are noted throughout the year.
The print-on-demand company needs approximately one week to fill orders (US domestic), and does ship internationally, but may need a little more lead time to complete international orders, so order early! If you’d prefer the calendar be formatted with international dates of interest for where you are (Canada, UK, Italy, Spain, Germany, France), contact us directly and we’ll try to make that available for you.
This year’s most noteworthy event on the farm occurred mid-summer when all sixteen of Jenny’s eggs hatched on the 4th of July, so Jenny and her young poults of course made this year’s cover (and are also featured for the month of July). A complete preview of the 2012 calendar is available below:
Our 2011 Calendar has been well used this year, and helped us keep some of our more prominent projects on track, like the retaining wall, and the greenhouse, so we’re looking forward to another well-organized year ahead. Enjoy!

Each calendar is $28 (US).
Hooray!!! I’m going to order one!!! 🙂
Enjoy! 🙂
Hi Clare,
Lovely idea 😀
I do love calendars, but reality is I have nowhere to hang them and they never get used!
I’m still a slave to pencil and paper…I couldn’t live without one! 😛
Alas my mother in law has already arrived with next year’s calendar.
That’s ok, we just do this for ourselves, and some of our readers and friends asked in previous years how they could get one. Print-on-demand makes it so easy to share these days.
Clare, I have just started to select images for my gift calendars this year, so I enjoyed seeing what you were doing with yours. Of course, Jenny and her poults would have to be the cover stars. Great image!-
I agree, Jenny and the poults were definitely a highlight this year. Last year Frodo made the cover, but I’m happy to say he had a much less eventful year this year! 😉
Your calendar last year was such a great idea we came up with our own for 2011. I am currently gathering up the images for ours (in my spare time). I will definitely check out the CV 2012 edition!
Mmmm…I can see yours now…lots of fine fresh greens, and homemade breads… 🙂
Clare, I was thinking of putting together a calendar for my nursery customers when I saw this post. Since you have done this before, could you send me an email with any tips you might have from past experience? I gather that you recommend Lulu.com. Anything that you did that in retrospect was a mistake? I have never done anything like this before. Thanks, Carolyn
Carolyn, be happy to. Watch your inbox for an email shortly…
Your calendar is really nice Clare. The images are very beautiful, I did go to preview it. I am like you, I have the computer, the phone and can sync the calendar, but rely on a printed one I can write on.
Technology failed me once too many times in the past, so I’m very reluctant to give up a paper calendar. Besides, it’s a fun excuse to review the previous year’s photographs! 🙂
What a great idea! I love calendars and I’m with you…I much prefer the print type! Yours is beautiful!
Thanks Karin. I think a lot us who keep up on blogs easily acquire enough photographic material to make cards, or calendars for personal use. It’s nice to see the photographs again, and have some of the favorites not get lost in the archives. 🙂
What a great idea! Thanks for the link. And I can see as you keep these through the years, it’s like a mini-history of your farm. Again – what a great idea!
It is a fun mini-history. I don’t throw the calendars out when I’m done, I save them. It will be fun to look back and see how things evolved over the years.
Clare what a great calendar. I love the pictures you chose and of course Jenny deserves top billing
I never expected I’d be able to fit 17 turkeys on the cover of this year’s calendar 😛 Of course, it helps that 16 of them were tiny!
I had forgotten that you did a calendar, great cover photo! Those baby turkeys were a delight.
They were a lot of fun to have around this year. It seemed like a good excuse to have their photo on the wall 😉
This is a fantastic idea and I love your photos. As luck would have it I haven’t got any 2012 calendars yet, so I’ve just ordered yours. Can’t wait to get it in the mail 🙂
Thank you Christine, I do hope you enjoy it!
You have done a great job! The calendar looks fabulous and will no doubt bring you lots of memories through the year. What I need is a pocket calendar that I can carry in my pocket; a day planner. I wonder if there is a company that will let one design something like that?
I’m not sure that I’ve seen a personalized photo pocket calendar, but it’s an interesting idea!
Bought one of Carolyn’s for me but yours will thrill hubby who is an armchair beekeeper and fowl fiend. Be lovely to see a bit of Curbstone Valley each month and thank you for all your entertaining and hugely informative posts. Large sales
