We all have ‘those days’, and as you can see from this photo, Moselle was done with her day. Absolutely over it at the end of our spring ’23 appraisal. It’s really not the most flattering photo, so we will attempt to get something better later this summer, but for now this will have to do.

Moselle’s dam, River Blythe, is the only River of Rain daughter we retained from her quads in 2018. As a young kid she would always seek out the humans to hang out with when out on pasture, while her sisters were busy browsing.

After a last minute change up in the breeding schedule in late fall 2019, we bred Blythe to Space Oddity. We unexpectedly lost Oddie’s sire in the fall, so we decided to use Oddie instead, and are so glad we did.

Moselle and her sister, Sionainn, are both beautiful, very dairy does, and Space Oddity’s offspring have proven to be incredibly consistent in type and structure.  Another situation where electing which doe to retain was difficult, but neither would have been the wrong choice.

Blythe freshened with a lovely high, well attached, capacious udder, with a great medial. Adding a Lotus grandson, and Written N The Stars son to produce Moselle, she did not disappoint in both mammary structure and production when she finally freshened in the spring of 2022, despite only producing twins (Syrah and Sangiovese). Unfortunately, in the spring of 2023 Moselle only had a single doeling, and although producing well, all things considered, she was slightly overcondition during appraisal, and not showing her true mammary capacity. That said, she was highly commended for her udder structure. She scored 42 for rear udder arch, and 38 for rear udder height. Second only to Allie in the herd (GCH Alethia HB When Stars Align).
