I love this doe. Kestrel was a much anticipated cross this season. Her dam, Skylark, is a beautifully balanced doe, and caught our eye from the second we saw her. She easily earned her dry junior leg as kid, despite some incredibly stiff competition. Unfortunately, her sire weakened her medial relative to her dam. Not much, but enough that Starman was swiftly recruited as Kestrel’s sire.
Kestrel freshened in 2022 with a pair of lovely doelings sired by Meme’s son, Luv Me Dew both of whom (Magpie and Peregrine) are retained for now. As expected, Starman did make some significant improvements in udder structure in Kestrel’s first freshening udder. However, Kestrel really bloomed in her second freshening, and has matured into a beautiful young doe, scoring VVEE 90 as a three year-old.
