When a kid is born, and immediately catches your eye, even before it is dry, it’s a keeper. As much as we don’t need an additional junior herdsire this season, Capriccio simply had to stay.
Calypso and Hanukkah’s entire litter of kids this year was eye-catching, and so very consistent in general appearance, width, and capacity, that it made selecting who should stay or go incredibly difficult. Capriccio’s sister, Aria, was also retained to the herd, and thankfully his other brother and sister have landed in excellent performance homes where we can monitor their progress.
This young dairy buck is beautifully balanced, with straight front and rear legs, perfect length in the cannon bones, tight shoulders, excellent brisket definition, with a wide and level rump, and a lean long neck. All this culminated in Capriccio scoring EEE 91 as a three year-old buck during our 2023 appraisal, earning E’s in shoulder assembly, rear legs, and back.
