Curbstone Valley Autumn Sage

Autumn was somewhat overlooked as a young, late season, kid. While evaluating the herd, and paring down some genetic lines, over the winter we spent some time more critically observing and evaluating her. Aside from the fact she inherited her grand-dam, Lotus’, lower ear set, it is fair to say that as she is maturing, her general appearance has some significant advantages over her dam.

Her dam’s sire brought some improvements in mammary attachment, but set back some structural traits, especially rear legs and rump, so Autumn’s sire was chosen to try to improve angularity, and rump width, as well as dairy strength.  So far, we like what we see.

This is the first time we have line-bred on her granddam, SG Castle Rock Lotus, so we will be interested to see Autumn’s first freshening production, and lactation persistency.
