Solana’s sire, Asterion, has been incredibly generous with doe kids over the last few years. So far he has proven himself to do little to disrupt general appearance, but does improve mammary structure and production. As Galene is as close to my ideal doe in type, Asterion was intentionally selected for his contributions to mammary system.
Both Solana and Paloma are similar in overall structure. Angular, smoothly blended, flat-boned, with Solana having a bit more width and capacity at this age, but that can change.
For now, both of Galene’s 2024 daughters will remain in the herd, so we can better assess both Asterion’s contributions, and their relative performance compared to their dam.
