Curbstone Valley A Paloma

After making the mistake of selling Galene’s 2022 doe kid, who appears to have now vanished into obscurity, we have been waiting for a new doe to retain from her. Galene is as close to my ideal doe in general appearance as I could ask for. In October of 2022, late in lactation, although stale, she scored E’s across all of the structural categories, with the exception of V’s in head and feet, as a first freshening two year-old. Unfortunately, at our 2023 appraisal, she was still baking her babies, so had to sit out that session. 

This cross to produce Paloma was an intentional line breeding on GCH Algedi Farm RB Ocean Flower EEEE 92, as Ocean, over the many years she has been in our barn (she will be 14 years old this spring), has proven to be the most rock solid doe in regards to health, longevity, temperament, and sustained conformation over her lifetime.

We lost a little ground with Galene in rear udder height and arch via her sire, but Paloma’s sire, Asterion, is proving he is very capable of making improvements there, without spiraling the structural categories, or production, backwards. As such we are very excited to see both Paloma and her sister, Solana, freshen in 2026.
