In Greek Mythology, Nepheline's dam, Cleodora, is thought to have practiced the art of lithomancy, telling the future through the use of gemstones, as such, Dora's offspring are named after gemstones and minerals.

Nepheline was a striking doe, even at birth. Her personality, much like her dam, is larger than life, and being a very gregarious doe, and wanting to be close to people, she quickly became a 'gate jumper'. Unfortunately, a lesson in gravity early on resulted in Nepheline not quite clearing the gate during one of her launches when she was kid. She caught her foot, and then fell backwards, landing squarely on her rump, and broke her tail.

Despite that, now that gravity is succeeding in keeping her feet on the ground, she is maturing in a lovely doe. We admire her length, both her body and her neck, as well as her capacity for her age, something her dam was lacking in as a young doe. She also has some improvement in the front end assembly compared to her dam, but has retained her dam's incredibly pliable and stretchy skin.

Nepheline's half-sister, Rowena, proved to have significantly improved udder capacity as a young doe, and we're hoping this cross will prove to be just as productive. Definitely a doe to watch over the coming months, and we're looking forward to freshening her in 2019.
