Curbstone Valley TBB Matilda

When we purchased Meme (SGCH Alethia MH Dew Ya Love Me) in 2019, she arrived with her doeling, Tilly’s dam, Alethia Whatsluvgottodewwithit (Maisie). While Maisie is of a different style and type than we are used to working with, she is nonetheless a very correct, and very productive young doe.

Although we had planned to breed Maisie to Space Oddity, we already had a reservation for a doeling out of her from a friend, who wanted us to breed Maisie to Leonard (Alethia DOH The Big Bang) instead. As we weren’t planning to retain a doe the first year, we figured why not?

However, before Matilda was born, that buyer backed out of the purchase, and for a while we just watched Matilda as she started to grow.  We are very familiar with these genetics, and Matilda’s own sire when through some rather awkward growth phases in his first year. Although she is a little chunky from being stuck in the barn too much this winter, she is finally starting to pull herself together.

Matilda is linebred on Rosasharn’s UMT Tupelo Honey, and has an impressive pedigree behind her. Her granddams on both sides are sporting the best mammary genetics on the west coast, and have some wonderful longevity in their genetics, too!

As we are unlikely to repeat this cross, in part because Leonard does not bring as much length of body to his daughters as some of our other herd sires, we have chosen to retain Matilda, and see how she freshens in spring 2024.  With Capella and Meme behind her, how could we not?!
