Curbstone Valley H Trinity

I usually know who I intend to retain before they are born, and Trinity wasn’t expected to stay. While I hoped to see some solid general appearance improvements in Trinity, relative to her dam, I didn’t expect she would keep catching my eye as much as she has in the junior pen.

Her dam’s maternal line has been cursed with being overly easy keepers. While they are productive, they also get fat easily. This obviously impacts their general appearance. We have been striving for more dairyness in progeny, more refinement, which has occasionally proven to be difficult to improve, and overcome the tendency toward chunkiness.

However, Trinity’s sire has made some beautiful improvements in the general appearance of his two year-old daughters that freshened the first time in 2022. Our appraisal that fall highlighted his consistent strengths that are being passed forward to his daughters. One of those daughters, Galene, from our brood doe, Ianeira, scored E’s across all the structural categories, except head and feet (V’s). Had she not been in heat, with a stale udder so late in the year, she would out-scored her stall-mate, Aria, who appraised 89 as a two year-old. Trinity’s type overall is very reminiscent of Galene and Aria at this age. Long, wide, lean, and feminine throughout. A substantial improvement in dairy strength, but retaining that all important width and capacity. For now, Trinity stays, and we will see how she compares to her dam once she freshens.
