Maddie was the first doe born on the farm in 2015, and is named for a common native wildflower that is endemic to the farm.
This lovely little doe clearly inherited her dam’s placid, and quiet disposition. She is shorter in stature than her dam was at this age, with a smoothly blended top-line, long neck, and level rump, with excellent width between her angular square hocks.
Maddie is a combination of some of the best production genetics on the farm. Her dam, Castle Rock Lotus, placed in the 305-day Top Ten breed leader rankings for milk volume, butterfat, and protein, both with the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA), and the American Goat Society (AGS) for her 2015 lactation, and earned her Superior Genetics designation in 2017. That same year, Lotus also achieved Elite Doe status. Maddie now has some big hooves to fill.
Maddie freshened in 2017 with a wonderfully capacious udder, and her daughter, Scarlet Aster, is retained to the herd.
