After seeing the performance of Oberon's dam, Rowena, during her first freshening, there was little question that a buck would be retained the next time she freshened. Rowena produced more than 1100 lbs of milk as a first freshener, easily earning her milk stars in volume, and components, and landed on the ADGA Breed Leader list for protein production for 2016. Rowena has since achieved Elite Doe status, earned her Superior Genetics designation with ADGA, and appraised as a 3 year-old second freshener, at VEEE 90.

The achievements of Obie's dam thus far were enough to consider retaining her son, however, Rowena's dam, Royalia, is also a Superior Genetics and Breed Leader doe, earning Breed Leader status in milk, butterfat, and protein in 2016, with a permanent appraisal score of VEEE 90.

Obie's sire, Desert Indigo, and paternal grandsire, Abraham Darby, are both champion bucks. His sire's dam, Lotus, has been on Breed Leader lists with ADGA and/or AGS for the last three years, was designated an Elite and Super Genetics doe in 2017, and earned a permanent Linear Appraisal score of VEEE 91 as a 5 year-old fifth freshener.

In short, Obie's pedigree is power-packed with dairy performance, and 'E' udder structure. As he was born late in our 2017 kidding season, he will be introduced to our breeding program in the fall of 2018, and we're very excited to see what he will contribute to the future performance of our herd!
